Hidden Heroes Carers Gift (Kirklees/Huddersfield/Dewsbury)
Do you know an amazing carer in Kirklees that you would love to show your appreciation for?
These feel-good packs will be delivered during Carers Week from 7th to 13th June. Each bag contains a beautiful card, words of encouragement, a handmade biscuit and a teabag. The packs have been carefully designed by local carers charity 'Carers Count' encouraging the carer to take a break, seek support and feel supported by their community.
While some of us may never consciously cross the line between being a being family member and being an unpaid carer, many people do become unpaid carers without realising it simply by helping a family member who needs them. Four in five unpaid carers are currently providing more care now than before the lockdowns in 2020 and 2021.
Often unpaid carers gradually move into the role of a carer for friends and family and don’t recognise themselves as carers; they are Hidden Carers.
These packs have been created and paid-for by Carers Count, Carers Trust Mid Yorkshire, The Kirkwood, Locala and Kirklees Council.
There are 200 packs available on a first-come-first-served basis.
